Redmane/Spruce Partnership  

Spruce Technology and RedMane Technology LLC are proud to be selected by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Adult Protective Services (APS) unit to implement a modern and mobile adult protection solution on RedMane’s mCase platform. The new system enables Florida’s APS professionals to better engage and support the vulnerable adults they serve through mCase – a flexible, highly configurable cloud-based platform

The new system aligns with the unit’s vision for a single, integrated cloud solution for all adult protective services. Florida envisions a solution that supports staff working in the community, is fully integrated with key state systems, and enables the organization to make changes without custom coding as policies, regulations, and procedural changes. 

The Florida APS solution will be deployed on RedMane’s mCase solution platform. mCase, a modern and mobile-friendly case management system, will allow users to work and collaborate in ways the previous system simply could not. mCase is a purpose-built, cloud-based, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) technology that enables interoperability and case coordination. It is flexible, highly configurable and will fully support the needs of Florida’s APS unit for years to come.

The new system is to be officially named SAFE, as an acronym for Serving Adults and Families Effectively. The Spruce – RedMane Team will work with APS staff to configure the SAFE system to the state’s requirements, including enabling investigators to access the solution via mobile devices when they are in homes, institutions, hospitals, and everywhere in the community.

Florida Adult Protective  Services

The Adult Protective Services Program is responsible for preventing further harm to vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-neglect. (Chapter 415, F.S.). These adults may experience abuse, neglect, or exploitation by second parties or may fail to take care of themselves adequately. Florida statutes require any person who knows or who has reasonable cause to suspect any abuse of vulnerable adults to report that information to the Florida Abuse Hotline.

APS Services include:

• on-site investigation of reports of alleged abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-neglect;
• determination of immediate risk to the victim and provision of necessary emergency services;
• evaluation of the need for and provision of protective supervision; and,
• provision of on-going protective services.

In addition, Adult Protective Services assists vulnerable adults to live dignified and reasonably independent lives in their own homes or in the homes of relatives or friends so that they may be assured the least restrictive environment suitable to their needs
